“What am I supposed to say, when I’m all choked up & you’re okay?”

Eleven is such a tender age to be having big, beautiful vocals. But Maddi Jane does it to a T.

I’m still alive, but I’m barely breathing
Just prayin’ to a God that I don’t believe in
‘Cos I’ve got time while she’s got freedom
‘Cos when a heart breaks, no it don’t break even

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man who’s gonna put her first
While I’m wide awake, she has no trouble sleeping
‘Cos when a heart breaks, no it don’t break even

They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words’re gonna stop the bleeding
‘Cos she’s moved on while I’m still grieving
And when a heart breaks, no it don’t break even

Break Even, The Script

I always felt that this has been the most apt description of recent emotions. With some minor tweaking to the words, of course.
