“High, on diesel & gasoline”

This moment is mine, beneath a full moon in a starless sky, watching the trickle of smoke escape from between my fingers into the air around me  & encompassing me in its high before it evaporates, sitting down with a loved one in a bittersweet but comfortable silence and contemplating the options of tomorrow and the day after and the day after that, knowing tomorrow would be another predictable routine that will leave me worn out by sun down, but it’s okay, because this moment is mine & mine alone; this moment of enlightenment & acknowledgement, this moment of admittance & acceptance.

This moment, of letting go.
